Welcome to NITROFREEZE® Cyrogenic Deburring
The Cryogenic Institute of New England, Inc. provides deburring for burr removal as a service to our customers. We utilize a non-abrasive process called cryogenic deburring. Our deburring service offers the best solution for removing burrs from plastics. Since 2003, we have processed millions of individual parts and thousands of designs.
Cryogenic deburring works for a wide variety of materials. Our deburring service is available for most machined parts, especially on engineered materials and composites. We have successfully deburred parts machined from plastics, polymers, nylons, delrin, Teflon, polypropylene, polycarbonate, ABS, PET, HDPE, PEEK, DAP, Tefzel, PPS, Viton, Torlon, CTFE, Liquid Crystal Polymer, PH Stainless Steels and Beryllium Copper, among others.
Our deburring service protects the integrity of your parts. The process will not affect the surface finish or geometry of your part, unlike traditional hand, vibratory, or tumbling methods. Our deburring process is computer controlled, yielding repeatable and reliable results. Our vast array of successful deburring applications includes hundreds of medical devices and other high value precision components. In order to retain integrity, parts are placed in a chamber, rapidly cooled and impacted with a non-abrasive polycarbonate media while being tumbled. The burrs become brittle (because of their density) and are removed by the throwing of non-abrasive polycarbonate media. Edges are maintained without rounding or removal of additional material; only the offensive burrs are removed.
Cryogenic deburring removes recessed burrs in blind and through holes. We use a range of non-abrasive medias that range in size from 0.006” (smallest) to 0.060” (largest). Because of this, we are able to deburr the interior of parts with complicated geometries. Where appropriate, we excel in developing low cost custom fixtures to ensure burr removal in blind holes, through holes, and other recessed areas. The Nitrofreeze® deburring service provides both high-quality and is very economical. Burr removal can cost anywhere from less than .01 cent to several dollars apiece. Generally, the cost is between 10% and 20% of the value of the part. We always beat labor-intensive manual or hand deburring of parts in terms of cost per part processed and quality.
Nitrofreeze’s deburring service is very fast. The standard turnaround time for delivery of processed parts is two days after receipt. We also offer same day and one-day service for a small premium.
